The Postal Service will celebrate the holidays with help from a boy named Charlie Brown.
Ten stamps honoring the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be issued in October, USPS announced this week.
The stamps will come in booklets of 20. Each stamp will depict a different scene from the holiday TV classic, including Charlie checking his mailbox and Snoopy decorating his doghouse.
Additionally, USPS said it will release four Geometric Snowflake stamps in October.
The Postal Service also announced plans for several 2016 stamps, including:
- Year of the Monkey, a Lunar New Year stamp
- A Quilled Paper Heart stamp
- African-American leader Richard Allen, the 37th Black Heritage stamp
- California educator Jaime Escalante
- Jazz singer Sarah Vaughan, a Music Icons stamp
- Botanical Art, a booklet of 20 stamps featuring 10 turn-of-the-century floral designs
- Pets, a booklet of 20 stamps featuring popular household animals
- A stamp marking the 250th anniversary of the repeal of the Stamp Act, British legislation that helped spark the American Revolution
- A stamp honoring the 200th anniversary of Indiana’s statehood
The Postal Service made the announcements at the American Philatelic Society Stamp Show. More details and stamp subjects will be announced later this year.
